Key Activities - Promoting good and best practices

EEMUA members’ collaboration enables it to develop industry guides and other publications which promote good and best practices. Recognised internationally for their technical quality, these guides are sought out and used in a variety of engineering sectors and are themselves sometimes adopted as formal standards. Over 50 guides are currently in print with ten new guides and eight new editions in preparation.

Examples of key publications:

• Inspection of storage tanks - noted by the HSE as being a leading guidance document.
• Alarm Systems - recognised as the leading authority for managing alarms in complex process control situations. Top instrumentation suppliers now incorporate its guidance into their products.
• Factory stairways - originally published in 1954, is now in its 7th edition, considered to be the sole authority in its field.
