Revised Guidelines to the Norwegian petroleum Health and Safety Regulations have been released. The purpose of the Guidelines is to demonstrate how provisions in the Regulations can be met and for the first time direct reference is made to EEMUA 191, Alarm systems – a guide to design, management and procurement, in regard to the design and performance requirement of alarm systems (Facilities Regulations, and Technical And Operational Regulations).
Since it was first published in 1999, EEMUA 191 has become the globally accepted and leading guide to good practice for all aspects of alarm systems. Developed by users of alarm systems with input from the British Health and Safety Executive (HSE), it gives comprehensive guidance on designing, managing and procuring an effective alarm system.
EEMUA 191 is intended to help in improving existing systems and in developing new facilities during plant construction or during alarm system refurbishments.
Both of the international standards for the management of alarm systems for the process industries, ISA 18.2 and IEC 62682, are aligned with EEMUA 191.
