Best Practice for Identifying and Managing Through-Valve Losses to Flare

Summary:

Through-valve leaks to flare that go unnoticed can accumulate into huge losses, which limit overall plant output and productivity as well as making a major contribution to emissions and climate change. Five to ten percent of valves leak but only one to two percent cause seventy percent of total losses. Some sites have reduced flare losses by more than twenty thousand tons per annum by identifying and fixing these big leakers. Originally developed with BP for use on refineries this technology is now used on offshore platforms, gas plants and other large industrial plant with flare systems. The presentation will explain this simple to use technology, its development history and best practice for flare systems with and without gas recovery.
