The End of Another Busy and Successful Year

20 December 2018

2018 has been another successful year for your Association. We have welcomed two new Members and seven new Associates into EEMUA from different industry sectors, and geographical areas. Several Members have also broadened their scope of membership. We now have sites benefitting from what we offer in Australia, Canada, and the United States.

An example of our continuing commitment to helping solve our Members’ problems is the work we have done on our e-learning suite. These half hour introductory level packages are based on our industry recognised guidance publications, which are widely accepted by regulators, industrial asset owners and business leaders worldwide as examples of what “good” looks like. They include modules on storage tanks, cyber security, 3rd party inspection services, subsea materials, functional safety and plastic tanks. We know of several members who now make completion of the existing modules part of their on-boarding process for new entrants at graduate level and above.

Other achievements have included successful technical seminars on hazardous areas, cyber security, corrosion under insulation, inspection, pressure systems, and storage tanks. As well as delivery of our full range of public courses, we have also given tailored and bespoke ‘in house’ courses.

In order to make sure that we know what our Members want, my team and I have taken every opportunity to meet with you. Not just at events and Technical Committees and Forums, but scheduling visits to Member sites. On every occasion I have been overwhelmed by the warmth of the reception, and grateful for the time people have been willing to take out of, invariably, a very busy schedule. This has all been in order to tell us what they are looking for from us and, I am glad to say, to thank us for what we have done already.

Under pinning this has been the derivation of the new EEMUA strategic plan. This lays out EEMUA’s goals for the next three years in detail, as well as the actions needed to achieve those goals. If you missed the webinar on this, the recording is available here

Next year there are some important milestones; we will run our biennial Conference in March, and celebrate 25 years since publishing the first Edition of EEMUA 159 in November. However, above all else, in 2019 we will continue to help Members and stakeholders worldwide to improve the safety, efficiency, and compliance of some of the world's most important industrial assets.

On behalf of the Association I would like to thank you for your support and look forward to serving you well in 2019 and beyond.
