Scott McNeil, Vice President - Marsh Ltd

Scott is a Chartered Fellow of the IMechE and holds a Masters degree in mechanical engineering. Scott started his career as an engineer in the refining and petrochemical sector and currently works at Marsh as a Risk Engineering Team Leader. Scott leads a team of UK based risks engineers who service a global portfolio of clients in the energy and power industry. He holds technical certifications, including API 571, API 580 and EEMUA 159, and is the Chair of EEMUA 243, who recently published a guide on the use of mechanical connectors. He has also published three other mechanical integrity related technical papers under Marsh.


Andrea Amelio, First Counsellor on energy and competition, EU Delegation to UK – EU Commission 

Andrea Amelio joined the European Commission in September 2007. He worked in Directorate General for Competition dealing with several antitrust cases, involving also energy markets. He is currently First Counsellor in the EU Delegation to UK covering competition and energy policies.


Runa Uddin, Training and Consultancy Manager – MIND

Runa has been delivering within the mental health space in various roles for the last 5 years. She is currently working for Mind managing the Training and Consultancy team, a role that excites her as she is driven by her passion and values around empowering people to take leadership of their varying lived experiences of mental health and wellbeing as compassionately as possible. Runa’s vision is to help people individually or as part of an organisation to understand how their mental health is intrinsically linked to their potential to become who they authentically are and contribute to their lives and the world meaningfully.


Paul Stanworth, HM Principal Specialist Inspector of Health and Safety – HSE

Paul is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and has worked for the Health and Safety Executive for over 20 years, where he regulates in the onshore oil and gas and chemicals industries. Until recently he managed a team of Specialist Mechanical Engineering Inspectors whose principal focus is in maintaining primary containment of hazardous substances and preventing the realisation of major accident hazards. Paul has also worked closely with industry, chairing the working group that produced EEMUA 231: The mechanical integrity of plant containing hazardous substances - A guide to periodic examination and testing, and also working with the Chemical and Downstream Oil Industry Forum to produce guidance titled The Use of External Contractors in the Management of Ageing Plant, which became the basis of the publication EEMUA 232. Paul is currently involved in a range of work relating to Net Zero initiatives in industry.


Neil Gallon, Principal Engineer – ROSEN Group

Neil Gallon is a Principal Engineer with the ROSEN Group in Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK, having previously worked for various consulting and manufacturing companies, including British Steel / Tata Steel and GE Wellstream. He holds a Masters degree from the University of Cambridge in Materials Science and Metallurgy. Neil has 25 years’ experience in materials and welding engineering, and is a member of the EEMUA Materials Technology Committee, a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, a Eur. Ing. and a European / International Welding Engineer. His current work concentrates on understanding the effects of gaseous hydrogen on steel properties.


Hannele Holttinen, Partner and Senior Advisor – Recognis

Dr Hannele Holttinen is currently Partner and Senior Advisor at Recognis, a Finland based consultancy, living in Oxfordshire, UK. She is leading international networks related to grid integration of wind and solar: acting as Operating Agent of IEAWIND Task 25 and leading the Pillar 5 (Open source tools) of Global Power System Transformation consortium G-PST. She has her MSc and PhD from Helsinki Technical University, where she is Docent since 2014. She worked previously at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland for more than 25 years in different fields of wind energy and energy system integration research, last years as Principal Scientist.


Andrew Walker, Principal Engineer – SABIC

Andrew Walker graduated from Cambridge University, UK in 1989.  Since then he has worked in the petrochemical industry on Teesside for ICI, Huntsman and SABIC. He has worked as a plant engineer and a machines engineer on Nitric Acid, Ammonia, Chlorine, storage and logistics as well as Olefins plants. In 2021 Andrew was appointed to the SABIC Asset Technology Centre as a rotating equipment engineer.


Peter Davis, Network Control Engineer – Wales & West Utilities Ltd

Peter Davis BEng Mechanical Engineering has been in the gas distribution industry for 23 years, starting his career as gas mains surveyor covering Wales and South-west England then changing role to Network Analysis for several years before relocating to Hinckley in Leicestershire for 18 months to train with National Grid at their Distribution Network Control Centre where he became an Operations engineer in 2009. He then came back to Newport in South Wales at the Wales & West Utilities Control Room. Currently, he manages shift teams who monitor and control the gas distribution network serving Wales and southwest England.


Scott Owen, Process Safety and Environmental Engineer – Phillips 66

Scott Owen, from Phillips 66, will be presenting a short introduction to Human Factors. He is a 6 year experienced Chemical Engineer currently working as a Process Safety & Environmental Engineer at Phillips 66 Humber Refinery. Scott previously won the EEMUA Early Years Industry Award in 2021.
