Introduction
The EEMUA 147 Refrigerated Liquefied Gas Storage Tanks e-learning module is positioned at the Awareness level and provides a concise introduction to the key engineering principles for the safe design, construction, operation, and maintenance of refrigerated liquefied gas (RLG) storage tanks. It can be taken as a standalone awareness course or as preparatory learning before engaging with EEMUA Publication 147 in detail or participating in related EEMUA classroom training.
On completion of the desktop version, immediate certification is provided for the registered user who launched or purchased the course.
The course covers:
-
Types and configurations of refrigerated liquefied gas tanks.
-
Design principles and risk assessment methods.
-
Materials and foundation design for cryogenic service.
-
Fire, explosion and lightning protection.
-
Safety distances and containment principles.
-
Operational safety and tank-level management.
-
Boil-off gas handling and pressure control.
-
Overpressure and vacuum protection systems.
-
Leak and spill prevention.
-
Condensation and rollover hazards.
-
Hydrostatic and leak-tightness testing.
-
Drying, purging and cool-down procedures.
-
Pump installation and commissioning.
-
Inspection and maintenance planning.
-
Foundation heating and insulation checks.
-
Decommissioning, inerting and safe warm-up.
The content in the Refrigerated Liquefied Gas Storage Tanks e-learning module is also relevant to those referencing related EEMUA publications such as:
