Speaker’s name: Lewis Barton
Organization: ROSEN Group
Job title: Service Manager
Biography:
Lewis has been part of ROSEN for the past 12 years providing corrosion management and engineering consultancy. He has led a wide variety of work scopes across the world ranging from flow assurance to pipeline inspection; however, has always specialised in unpiggable pipeline solutions. Lewis now leads the ROSEN above ground services portfolio, specialising in the non-intrusive inspection of pipelines and other assets using novel and conventional technologies.
Presentation title: Arial solutions for asset inspection
Presentation abstract/summary:
ROSEN Group continues to push the boundaries of asset integrity management with cutting-edge aerial technologies. This presentation will explore how specialised drones are revolutionising the inspection of tanks, pipelines and other assets, offering a safer, more efficient, and data-rich approach to asset assessment.
Equipped with advanced ultrasonic testing (UT) capabilities, ROSEN’s drones enable comprehensive non-intrusive inspections, including corrosion mapping and thickness measurements. Additionally, integrated surface preparation tools ensure optimal inspection conditions, while high-resolution visual systems provide detailed photogrammetry for precise structural assessments.
For un-piggable pipelines, ROSEN’s approach to non-intrusive pipeline assessment leverages multiple complementary datasets. By combining photogrammetry with Large Standoff Magnetometry (LSM), operators gain a holistic understanding of pipeline integrity without the need for in-line inspection tools. These advanced techniques allow for accurate anomaly detection, enabling proactive maintenance and risk mitigation strategies.
Attendees will gain insights into how ROSEN’s aerial solutions enhance asset inspection efficiency, reduce operational downtime, and improve data-driven decision-making.
