Combining expertise for good practice

EEMUA Committees and Forums are where industry professionals combine their expertise to establish standardised good practices for a range of topics. Committees are open to all EEMUA Members at no additional cost.

At their meetings, they:

  • Address procedural issues and how the regulator expects sites to operate.
  • Regularly look at incidents and safety issues.
  • Liaise with other committees, when relevant, by holding joint meetings to discuss areas of mutual interest and to update one another on projects.
  • Share details of all types of safety incidents and the lessons learned – something EEMUA strongly encourages.

Shaping the industry

For both industry experts and those new to EEMUA, the ability to influence new and revised standards and guidance gives professionals a platform to collaborate and develop good practices that enable companies to: 

  • Preserve the longevity of products and infrastructure.
  • Implement proper maintenance and inspection techniques.
  • Address gaps in current and developing technology.
  • Put best practices in place to ensure safety, integrity, and global standardisation.

Hydrofluoric Acid Committee (HFA)

Instrumentation and Control Committee (INC)Brings together control engineers, instrumentation engineers, systems engineers, group heads, technical authorities, policy managers and others interested in a wide range of process control topics – from safety instrumented systems and cyber security for control systems to the human factor considerations of designing control rooms.

Machinery Committee (MAC)Enables EEMUA to establish a common stance in relations with manufacturers, and national and international standards-making bodies, on multiple aspects of rotating machinery.

Materials Technology Committee (MTC)Brings together materials, metallurgical and corrosion engineers to discuss topics including materials, welding and rogue materials. It also ensures members are abreast of integrity alerts relevant to the industry.

On-line Analysers Committee (OLA)
Brings together analyser performance and optimisation engineers to discuss topics including design and installation considerations. Through the committee chairman, EEMUA also has a close working relationship with IEC sub-committee TC 65B.

Piping Systems and Pressure Vessels Committee (PSC-PRV)Hold joint meetings and a have a shared business plan. The objectives are to enhance discussion between piping engineers and pressure vessels engineers, and to ensure greater participation.

Pressure Relieving Safety Systems (PRS)Brings together those responsible for process safety and all aspects of pressure relieving safety systems. Its agenda includes the technical operation of items such as relief valves and bursting discs, liaison with the UK regulator and reviews of incidents and lessons learned.

Storage Tanks Committee (STC)Provides a forum for all those involved with the storage of oil and gas products, and chemicals. Its members discuss all aspects of the design, inspection, maintenance and repair of storage tanks.

User Inspectorate Committee (UIC)Considers administrative and policy matters concerning in-house user inspectorates, especially their criteria for recognition and status. It also addresses national and European legislation – actual and proposed.

Carbon Capture Forum (CCF)Examines all aspects of carbon capture and storage (CCS) to help ease the energy transition and reduce emissions produced by the plant and operations of EEMUA’s member companies.

Cyber Security Forum (CSF)Deals with all aspects of cyber security, with a particular emphasis on industrial systems. Guidance is developed to facilitate the evolution of those processes and procedures which enhance an organization's resilience to attack and its recovery following an attack.

Hydrogen Forum (H2F)Examines hydrogen storage and transportation/distribution as well as the repurposing of existing infrastructure to help ease the energy transition for EEMUA’s member companies.

Inspection and NDT Technology Forum (INT)Brings together specialists and others from member companies to disseminate and review inspection and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) issues. In addition to being represented on several British and European standards bodies’ committees, the INT covers developments at international standards and other bodies.

Pipelines Forum (PLF)Brings together specialists and others from EEMUA member and associate companies to review key pipeline integrity issues. Forum members are encouraged to share their experiences to identify areas where technical pipeline integrity guidance can be developed. Members also share good practice with EEMUA and other members.
